About Us
What Makes Us Different?
First, we are into building bikesUnlike other sites that sell tools, we actually buy and use tools to determine whether or not they can be applied to the custom bike building process. Second, we listen to our customers and those in the industry to ensure that what we offer will meet expectations.

We have found that many builders don't budget for tools and equipment like they should. Instead they hone in on the cost of parts and sacrifice tool performance.  Also, within the industry there isn't much information regarding what makes a quality tool or how to use them.  Even though price is often a determining factor, it shouldn't be the only factor regarding quality tools. Performance of the tool is key, especially when working around expensive parts and paint jobs.

We also don't play the pricing game. We sell according to what we feel is reasonable for high quality tools. Other sites, may sell at a lower price, but slam you with higher shipping charges, strict return policies and inflated shipping insurance premiums.  At the end of the day, where you may have saved in tool cost is spent up in other charges.  Or, they sell everything on earth hoping to make up the profits through volume sells. Others use the 1/3rd approach. That is, 1/3rd at wholesale, 1/3rd at mid-range pricing, 1/3rd over priced. So, buying under those conditions is a real crap shoot as to whether or not you actually save money.  Others advertise discount pricing, but the tools discounted are the ones that don't sell or worth buying.  They know that but, want you to come to their site. Once there, the opportunity to upsale you can exist.

We are about building relationships, which is a major reason for this site.  Other sites don't have a problem selling you tools. But, good luck in getting additional help or your technical questions answered.  Far too often, they will refer you to a #800 number of the manufacturer. Why? Because they are in the business of selling.  We on the other hand, want to know you and share in the experience of customizing and building custom bikes. This is why we share what we know and learn with you.  Furthermore, we are constantly building professional relationships across the industry which you can have access to.

In terms of this website, he wanted to keep it simple.  It was developed with the common thought in mind, you don't need a boat load of tools to build and maintain a bike - you just need the right tools. Not only do you need the right tools but, tools of high quality without an expensive  price tag. For this reason, essential tools are offered. Quality tools don't come cheap but, are worth the investment. This is why a package deal is offered. Or, you can save money by purchasing individual tools and equipment as needed through the Warehouse.

The tools offered are from companies that have provided tools to NASCAR, NASA, the U.S. Miitary and thousands of professional, automotive technicians and mechanics across the country. To our knowledge, all of the companies are U.S.A. based, except for Astro Pneumatic. Some of these companies are or were manufacturers for CraftsmanŽ brand tools. Also, the tools proved to meet or exceed ANSI or ASME standards. These facts were some criteria for selecting these companies.

However, if there is a specific tool not offered by this site, you can request it through our "Contact Us" page. Every effort will be made to find that tool even if it is through a source that Custom Chopper Builder's Tool box does not have an established business relationship with.

If you haven't joined our E-mail group, it would be a great idea to do so - even if you choose not to purchase tools at this time.  Yes, we may announce a new tool or piece of equipment we got in stock. But, more importantly, we discuss the "real-life" bike building process, not just technical stuff you can find in any magazine or through other sites. We want to assist you in developing industry contacts and relationships. Having industry contacts is important in helping you gain access to the "inside track" of the industry.  Having this access will save you time, money and get you important information.
